- The organisation will have its own exhibition space as part of the Basque scientific and technological consortium, BRTA, and will be giving four technical presentations
Industrial cybersecurity and the latest technologies applied to digitalisation and industrial cybersecurity will be the main focal points that will define the participation of the Basque technological centre, IKERLAN, in the upcoming Basque Industry 4.0 Meeting Point conference, to be held on 20 and 21 November at the Bilbao Exhibition Centre.
Communication technology solutions
The Arrasate-Mondragón centre, which will have its own exhibition space as part of the Basque Research and Technology Alliance (BRTA) Consortium stand, will be exhibiting its wireless communication technology solutions, for use in industrial environments, at the event.
Specifically, IKERLAN will be presenting its Time Sensitive Network (TSN) demonstrator, a wireless communication technology that enables different systems to be connected to each other with requirements that, until now, could only be achieved with wired solutions.
"IKERLAN's TSN solution allows a wireless installation of control systems distributed in dispersed locations, meeting real time requirements and high reliability in industrial environments, and avoiding the installation of cables and the costs and inconveniences associated with these (weight requirements, space, connection errors, etc.)" says IKERLAN researcher Iñaki Val.
In addition, IKERLAN's contribution in the field of communication technologies will be rounded off with a presentation by José Ramón Juárez in the section devoted to 5G technologies and wireless communications
A benchmark in industrial cybersecurity and digitalisation
In addition to its expertise in industrial wireless communications, IKERLAN will showcase its potential in the areas of industrial digitalisation and cybersecurity.
As an example of this, the technology centre will be showcasing the capabilities of the IKERLAN KONNEKT digital platform at the event: a range of advanced solutions for industrial digitalisation that adapts to the specific needs of each company and covers all the elements necessary for optimising its processes and offering high value services based on its products, through the availability and large-scale exploitation of data.
IKERLAN will also be taking part in the technology workshop dedicated to big data architectures and IoT technologies. The researcher, Ángel Conde, will be giving the talk on Evolution towards modern data platforms, the Edge-to-Cloud continuum and Felix Martinez will discuss the latest trends in the use of digital twins to improve the reliability and life span of industrial assets.
Industrial cybersecurity, an area in which IKERLAN is an active participant in the Basque Cybersecurity Centre (BCSC) and in which it has recently set up some unique laboratories, is another of the important focal points of IKERLAN's participation in the event. Specifically, and within the programme of presentations on industrial cybersecurity, researcher David González will deliver the talk on Cybersecurity Product Certification for Industrial Connected Devices, in which he will share the most essential principles for the cybersecurity certification of connected industrial products.
About IKERLAN
IKERLAN is a leading centre in technology transfer and in the contribution of competitive value to the company due, among other things, to the specialisation of its researchers. It offers comprehensive solutions that combine different technological fields into three large areas: Electronics, Information and Communication Technologies (EICT), Energy and Power Electronics and Advanced Manufacturing. In 2017, IKERLAN obtained the certification, via AENOR, for the integrated management system (UNE-EN ISO 9001:2015 and UNE 166002:2014), which recognises the excellence of the centre in the field of R&D&I. Currently, it has a workforce of around 300 employees.
