<p>IK4-IKERLAN has recently become a member of the European Center for Power Electronics (ECPE), Europe’s leading technology platform in the power electronics sector. The organisation, founded over ten years ago, groups together more than 70 companies and a similar number of European universities and research centres, and it promotes research, innovation and technology transfer in the power electronics area.</p>

<p>With endorsement from several companies, IK4-IKERLAN has been acknowledged as a ‘competence centre’, which is the name given by the organisation to its members in the research field. "Joining the ECPE will help IK4-IKERLAN achieve a closer rapport with the main actors in this sector and benefit from the advantages of forming part of such an important network”, says Ion Etxeberria, the centre’s Automatics and Power Electronics (AEP) Knowledge Manager.</p>

<p>This technology platform encourages its members’ involvement in joint research projects and provides financing for them to do so. It also works to facilitate knowledge exchange between the members, and it runs a full programme of conferences and trade shows.</p>

<p>The ECPE also sets out guidelines to help this technology evolve. It regularly presents a roadmap detailing the goals to be achieved by power electronics technology, and this document serves as a reference point for the entire sector.</p>
