• This agreement strengthens the institutional collaboration between both organisations, aligns their technology strategies, enables the sharing of capabilities, and reinforces a long-standing partnership in key areas such as decarbonisation, energy efficiency and digitalisation.
  • With this incorporation, DOMUSA TEKNIK joins IKERLAN’s industrial ecosystem, which includes companies such as ONNERA GROUP, COPRECI, ERREKA, FAGOR AUTOMATION, FAGOR EDERLAN, FAGOR ELECTRÓNICA, LAULAGUN, LKS NEXT, ORONA, ULMA and ZIV AUTOMATION, among others.

DOMUSA TEKNIK, the Gipuzkoa-based company specialising in heating, HVAC and renewable energy solutions, has joined IKERLAN as a user member. This move formalises the working relationship that both organisations have maintained for years, elevating it to a more stable, strategic and long-term cooperative framework.

This integration enables companies to actively participate in shaping the technology centre’s research priorities, validate future strategies and develop R&D projects with a direct impact on their competitiveness.

Beyond the technical dimension, the agreement further strengthens the institutional relationship between two cooperatives within the MONDRAGON Corporation that share a long history of collaboration and a commitment to innovation as a means of anticipating market challenges and accelerating the deployment of new technologies within industry.

Strategic priorities and key projects

In a context defined by building decarbonisation, electrification, the growing adoption of heat pumps and increasingly demanding environmental regulations, DOMUSA TEKNIK and IKERLAN are aligning their strategic priorities to jointly advance the development of more efficient, quieter and technologically advanced renewable HVAC systems.

This synergy combines DOMUSA TEKNIK’s industrial expertise and market knowledge with IKERLAN’s scientific and technological capabilities in artificial intelligence, embedded systems, electronics, energy and mechatronics.

The two organisations are currently collaborating on several strategic projects aimed at enhancing sustainability, energy efficiency and digitalisation within the sector. One of the most significant initiatives focuses on developing a new generation of heat pumps designed to be among the quietest on the market, facilitating their integration into residential environments.

The partnership also addresses the challenge of reducing pollutant emissions through the research and development of innovative biomass boiler solutions. The objective is to eliminate particulate emissions and anticipate future environmental requirements expected under forthcoming European regulations.

In addition, both organisations are working on the incorporation of generative artificial intelligence technologies into after-sales services. In this area, they are developing an advanced technical assistant capable of supporting professionals in installation, maintenance and troubleshooting tasks, helping to improve operational efficiency and the quality of service provided to customers.

“DOMUSA’s incorporation as a user member consolidates a collaboration that is already delivering tangible results in strategic areas for the energy transition. We firmly believe that innovation must translate into solutions capable of creating value for industry and addressing major challenges such as the energy transition, resource efficiency and digital transformation,” said Adolfo Plaza, President of IKERLAN.

Jon Makibar, President of DOMUSA TEKNIK, described this new stage: “We are excited to strengthen an alliance between two organisations that share cooperative values and a common vision for the future. We are convinced that the combination of our industrial capabilities and IKERLAN’s expertise will enable us to significantly accelerate the development of advanced and efficient technologies, successfully addressing the major challenges of decarbonisation while delivering real and sustainable value to our customers.”

With this incorporation, DOMUSA TEKNIK becomes part of IKERLAN’s ecosystem of user member companies, which includes leading organisations such as ONNERA GROUP, COPRECI, ERREKA, FAGOR AUTOMATION, FAGOR EDERLAN, FAGOR ELECTRÓNICA, LAULAGUN, LKS NEXT, ORONA, ULMA and ZIV AUTOMATION, among others.

This collaboration model fosters the development of long-term relationships based on trust, strategic alignment and the joint creation of new capabilities.
