- "The industry 4.0 offers the opportunity to evolve towards new business opportunities through servitization", asserts Xabier Sagartzazu, Director of the Cutting- Edge Manufacture Unit of the centre
- This event is to be held on November 22nd at Kursaal Palace in Donostia San Sebastian
The technological centre IK4-IKERLAN will show the novelties which have been carried out within the maintenance scope and the Service 4.0 because of the Basque Industry 4.0, the event promoted by the Basque Government which intends to discuss the last tendencies within the digitalisation scope of the industry. This seminar is to be held on November 22nd at Kursaal Palace in Donostia San Sebastian.
The Arrasate-Mondragón entity, which will share the stand with other members of the technological alliance IK4, will show in this event the prototype of a state-of-the-art remote control for the monitorization of industrial cranes (and other applications within the mobility scope) developed together with the Basque company IKUSI, of the group Velatia and specialised in electronic solutions and ICT.
The device falls within the Service 4.0, an emerging concept of the so-called fourth industrial revolution, which defines the development of new services based on the application of information and communication technologies (ICT). “The industry 4.0 offers us the opportunity to evolve towards new business opportunities through services which generate value to the client beyond the product”, asserts Xabier Sagartzazu, Director of the Cutting-Edge Manufacture Unit of IK4-IKERLAN.
Remote Monitoring and Failure Prediction
Specifically, the remote control to be showed by IK4-IKERLAN next Wednesday allows to keep the customer updated at all times about the operation of the machine fleet and to predict any potential failures.
Therefore, in this project we have applied Information and Communication technologies to control crane operation via radio control, monitoring their activity and sending this information through the internet to a cloud platform where data is processed. Moreover, the system features a portal with a user-friendly interface, which allows consulting that information.
IKUSI, which has commissioned several pilot tests in industrial plants located in the Basque country and France, will be able to extend its offer with a new service portfolio of high added value.
Donostiarra company will offer all details about the development in a conference to be held by its R&D Manager, Borja Pérez, within the conferences scheduled for such day.
Information and Communication Technologies
For the project execution, IK4-IKERLAN has applied the latest in Internet industrial communication protocols, cloud computing or in data consultation and visualisation, among others, key concepts within the new industrial paradigm.
The technological centre has plenty of experience in the incorporation and integration of the ICT in control, monitoring and maintenance systems of industrial assets, a piece of knowledge made available for its customers with the purpose of taking advantage of the new opportunities offered by the fourth industrial revolution.
“The Basque Industry 4.0 is a forum which gathers the most important agents of our industrial sector, and we want to show you with real solutions that we can help you take advantage of all the benefits offered by the industry 4.0 to be more competitive", concludes Sagartzazu.
Thus, IK4-IKERLAN's offerings cover all the electronics needed to capture data on the operation of machinery and process, reliably communicate and analyse them to trigger the appropriate actions. This range is complemented by the centre's experience in technologies linked to mechanics, energy and advanced control, making it possible to determine the key aspects to be monitored more accurately.
About Basque Industry 4.0
Basque Industry 4.0 is an event organised by the Basque Business Development Agency, SPRI, focusing on analysing the fourth industrial revolution and EICT tools as a basis for optimising industrial processes. This fourth edition will have an exhibition area and a conference schedule and workshops aimed at sharing the keys to the digitisation process that the industry is currently undergoing.
