Companies, institutions and internet users are demanding greater protection for information and critical infrastructure such as transport, industry and energy generating and distributing facilities. Experts are of the opinion that fresh approaches are needed to protect critical information and prevent cyber-attacks.

This field will be increasingly important for companies, and demand is expected to grow as the use of mobile devices and the internet of things (IoT) in the world of industry increases.

That is why IK4-IKERLAN has been working along these lines over the last few years to develop technologies and products in collaboration with its customers. The centre has in fact made a significant forward-looking commitment in terms of cybersecurity in its line of research devoted to Embedded Systems.

Proof of the importance that the centre is gaining in this area is its presence at one of the top forums in Europe in this area, the International Conference on Cybersecurity (ENISE) organised by the National Institute for Cybersecurity (INCIBE) on 20 and 21 October in León (Spain).

The Coordinator of the line of research into Embedded Systems at IK4-IKERLAN Jon Pérez participated in this event as a guest speaker. Specifically, he took part in the talks on 'Cybersecurity and the IoT' alongside world leaders in the field, such as Masaya Norifusa, head of cybersecurity at the Japanese multinational NEC.

The ninth edition of ENISE achieved record monitoring and attendance figures. Its slogan was ‘Cybersecurity: driving force for the development of the digital economy and society' drew over 1,100 attendees with more than 5,500 people connected via the streaming broadcast.
