- This sample is part of the IKERLAN KONNEKT personalisation solutions family, which accumulates the knowledge of the centre in the digitalisation of industrial products and services.
- The solution developed in collaboration with Amazon and Telefónica allows the smart card (SIM) to act as a key for the mass distribution of certificates, in order to provide security to the cloud a simplified connection to the cloud.
The general director of IK4-IKERLAN, Marcelino Caballero, and the director of Technologies of Electronics, Information and Communication, Ion Etxeberria, have attended the most relevant European trade fair for the industrial sector, Hannover Messe, to present with Amazon and Telefónica a solution that allows connecting massive numbers of IoT devices to Amazon Web through secure cellular connections. This solution is part of the IKERLAN KONNEKT personalisation solutions family, which accumulates the knowledge of the centre in the digitalisation of industrial products and services.
The development, carried out in collaboration with Telefónica and Amazon Web Services, allows the cybersecure connection of the Internet of Things (IoT) devices to Amazon Web Services IoT (AWS IoT). This solution simplifies the management of IoT devices safety connection to the cloud, and allows remote distribution of great scale credentials, facilitating and protecting IoT devices cloud connectivity.
The sample, which has been installed in the fair of the German city and can be visited in Hall 6, stand D46 between April 23 and 27, shows this development applied to a use case associated with the smart city. The connectivity solution developed by IK4-IKERLAN allows the monitoring of power consumption using a ZIV smart meter, IK4-IKERLAN client, and a smart modem allowing cyber security cloud connectivity.
IK4-IKERLAN, at the forefront of digitalisation
IK4-IKERLAN is a benchmark in industrial personalisation solutions, an area in which the technology centre has accumulated more than 40 years of experience generating and transferring knowledge to companies.
At this time, IK4-IKERLAN is positioned at the forefront of digitalisation focused on providing answers to the new challenges that arise every day around the industry, both from the point of view of connectivity through cybersecurity systems (internet of things, IoT), such as the collection and mass processing of data (Big Data) and obtaining the maximum value of them (Service 4.0, etc.).
IK4-IKERLAN is a leading centre for technology transfer and for providing competitive value to companies due, among other things, to the expertise of its researchers. It offers comprehensive solutions by combining different fields of technology in three main areas: Electronics, information and communication technology (EICT), Energy and power electronics and Advanced manufacturing. In 2017, AENOR, has certified IK4-IKERLAN’s comprehensive management system (UNE-EN ISO 9001:2015 and UNE 166002:2014), which is a acknowledging of the excellence of the centre in the R&D&I area. It currently has a staff of approximately 300 people.
