Programme

European programmes: Horizon 2020 - Research and Innovation Framework Programme

The ZDMP (Zero Defect Manufacturing Platform) project aims to develop a digital platform providing a set of basic services ranging from production resource data capture to storage and analysis of the data. These services will be used to develop software applications for achieving excellence in quality of manufacturing processes and products, in line with the zero defect philosophy. Process quality will be guaranteed by deployment of innovative artificial intelligence-based solutions geared to improving the efficiency of the production resources and energy savings. Product quality is also ensured using advanced modelling, detection, inspection and prediction techniques throughout the entire manufacturing process value chain.

The applications and services to be implemented on the ZDMP platform, in the cloud or at the manufacturers’ own facilities will enable interaction between the different platform users (manufacturers, software developers, technology suppliers, consultants, etc.), creating new business opportunities for all of them. This will enable the software developers to build applications to respond to generic or specific quality problems as required by the manufacturers. For this purpose, they will use the drivers provided by the technology suppliers and the service access possibilities offered by the platform.

our contribution

IKERLAN plays an important role in the project, as it leads the Wp3 business approach: market, exploitation, and sustainability, which is the basis for creating the different business models and strategies for exploiting the ZDMP. These include the creation of the company ZDMP, Ltda to market the project results.

As well as contributing to other tasks, IKERLAN will lead (or will be highly committed to) various research tasks, such as:

  • Strengthening the industrial networks in aspects of privacy and security (T5.2 Robust industrial network support)
  • Optimising performance of the equipment (T7.2 Production stage: equipment performance optimisation)
  • Assuring the quality of the process (T7.4 Process quality assurance)
  • Characterising and modelling the product (T8.1 Characterisation and modelling (strong involvement)
  • Non-destructive inspection of the product (T8.3 Production: non-destructive product inspection)

IKERLAN will also direct the validation process for use cases related to the automotive and machine tool sectors, in addition to collaborating on other EU projects and the regional interactions of the project partners.
