The refurbishing of houses is an essential element to ensure that the buildings, especially the old ones, comply with enough safety conditions, power efficiency and accessibility, among others.
The houses’ lifts were included as part of this refurbishing, and Orona Group set the purpose of improving and adapting them in the least invasive way possible.
IK4-Ikerlan has collaborated with Orona Group in this project, the purpose of which has been to make the lift work with a single-phase of 230 V of low power (500 W), in a way that it was possible to install it in old buildings without a powerful energy source.To achieve that, a storage system (one battery) has been integrated to allow the reduction of the grid power, and at the same time, to make the energy recovery of the braking and the operation without grid possible.
Likewise, some work has been done in the topology of the lift; the most adequate batteries have been selected and dimensioned. In addition, a technological platform for a six-person-lift has been developed, the concept of which has been validated and the checking tests in the tower have been carried out.
The result of this project has allowed Orona Group to develop a topology of single a phase lift for six people, with built-in storage which allows to reduce an 80 % of the grid power, and that enables the recovery of the braking energy and the operation without grid, suitable to be installed in old buildings.
