On 14 November, the IKERLAN technology centre will hold a technical workshop at its Arrasate-Mondragón headquarters focusing on the safety of battery energy storage systems. This is a key area in the current transition towards more sustainable mobility and energy solutions. The event is aimed at businesses and attendance is free of charge, subject to registration using the form available until 7 November.
During the workshop, researchers from IKERLAN and leading sector companies such as BATIQ, CAF Power & Automation, Cegasa, Ingeteam and NX Technologies will discuss the sector's current main challenges in terms of battery safety. These include growing demands for more rigorous regulatory standards; ensuring safety at all stages of the battery life cycle, including design, manufacture, transport, installation, operation and recycling; introducing new battery chemistries; and increasing stationary and electric mobility applications.
In addition, during this event, attendees will also learn about the safe design methodology that IKERLAN applies in battery development. They will also be given details about the new thermal safety laboratory that is being built to strengthen IKERLAN's capabilities in abuse testing and safety validation.

This workshop is aimed at companies interested in safety and innovation in the field of batteries, manufacturers and integrators that develop cells, modules or battery packs, as well as companies that use batteries in their own equipment or products.
Companies in the energy and stationary storage sectors will also find the event of interest, as will suppliers of battery components and materials (such as cooling systems, insulation and BMS management) and companies involved in the electrification of their industrial processes, or in battery management and recycling.
Participation in this initiative will enable professionals to connect with one another, explore technological synergies, and contribute to the development of safer and more sustainable solutions.
Through this initiative, IKERLAN is strengthening its commitment to knowledge transfer and collaboration between industry and research centres, thus consolidating its position as a leader in developing safe, reliable and sustainable energy storage solutions.
The meeting will bring together representatives from several of the sector's leading companies and the IKERLAN research team to discuss the sector's main technological challenges.
