• IKERLAN currently has 49 doctoral theses in progress, within the framework of its main lines of research.
  • The event was held at the Garaia Technology Park in Arrasate and included a round table discussion: Doctoral theses, the best pages begin.

Today, Friday 28 November, IKERLAN held the ninth edition of its doctoral thesis presentation day at the Garaia Technology Park in Arrasate-Mondragón, which from this year onwards will be known as TESIBIZI. This event has become a key occasion for showcasing the research carried out by the technology centre's team of doctoral students.

Around 120 people from IKERLAN and various universities with which the centre collaborates, such as the University of the Basque Country, Mondragon University, the University of Oviedo and the University of Cantabria, among others, participated in this edition. The programme included poster sessions and T3M (Thesis in 3 Minutes) dynamics, which allowed these researchers to present their work in a lively and informative way.

The conference also featured a round table discussion entitled Doctoral Thesis, the best pages begin, which was moderated by Jesús Ruano López, Head of IKERLAN's International Department. The participants were Egoitz Martínez Laserna (CTO of BeePlanet Factory), Ekhi Zugasti Uriguen (researcher and lecturer in Electronic Technology at EHU), Maitane Garmendia Elorza (researcher in energy storage and management at IKERLAN) and Irune Yarza Pérez (head of the centre's Embedded Systems and Embedded Software team).

TESIBIZI is part of IKERLAN's strategic actions aimed at strengthening its research pool and promoting the training, education and specialisation of its research staff as one of the organisation's distinguishing features. The theses presented are integrated into the centre's main lines of research: digital technologies and artificial intelligence, embedded electronic systems and cybersecurity, and energy and mechatronics.

The centre currently has 49 doctoral theses in progress, and in 2024 alone, six new theses were defended and 11 were started. Furthermore, IKERLAN allocates two million euros each year to the training, professional development and specialisation for its students and researchers.
